Welcome to the Skilling Family. We, Alan and Lyn, along with sons Ryan and Bradley, live on a small lifestyle block in the Kauaeranga Valley, nestled in the hills behind the small town of Thames, gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula.
We love our alpacas and are proud to say that we have had great success in the show ring which can be attributed to the use of high quality dams and exceptional stud males.
We have concentrated on building a high quality herd, focusing on fawn and brown huacaya, with fine, dense, well structured fleeces. We pride ourselves on breeding alpacas with excellent conformation.
Our alpacas are used to being handled and are calm and trusting of us. We take great delight in observing them and interacting with them.
Alan is the Vice President of the New Zealand Alpaca Association and also the Chair of the Show Sub Committee. He is a keen steward at many shows throughout the region. Lyn is also active as a steward.
Showing our alpacas has become a real family affair. Bradley is always very keen to be in the show ring whereas Ryan prefers to watch from the side lines.
We enjoy the camaraderie of fellow breeders and welcome anyone who would like to chat over a cup of tea or coffee about anything alpaca.
